Quality workflow

Control begins with an approved requirement

The appropriate checks depend on the product, material, construction and customer specification.

  1. 01

    Specification review

Confirm artwork, structure, components and quality requirements before production.

  2. 02

    Proof and sample review

Use digital proofing and engineering samples to review key visual and structural requirements.

  3. 03

    In-process control

Monitor printing, finishing, conversion and assembly against approved references.

  4. 04

    Relevant testing

Use documented laboratory equipment for applicable paper-product performance checks.

  5. 05

    Final inspection

Check product appearance, components and packing before release.

Inspection framework

Checks selected for the approved product requirement

Applicable methods and acceptance criteria must be agreed for each project. The following table describes the documented review areas without implying that every test applies to every product.

Review areaWhat can be checkedBuyer input required
Color reviewPrinted color against an approved proof or defined referenceReference and viewing expectation
BurstingRelevant paper or board resistance using documented equipmentApplicable method and acceptance criterion
Abrasion / rubPrinted or finished surface response to the agreed testSurface, method and acceptance criterion
CompressionRelevant packaging response to the agreed compression checkPack condition and test requirement
Humidity monitoringPaper handling conditions in the dedicated monitored roomAny project-specific conditioning requirement

Laboratory

Documented paper-product testing equipment

Our laboratory includes equipment for several physical and surface-related tests. Applicable test methods and acceptance criteria should be agreed for each project.

  • Puncture testing
  • Abrasion testing
  • Bursting-strength testing
  • Compression testing
  • Color-rub or decolorization testing
  • Sample preparation and cutting

Paper handling

Temperature and humidity monitoring

A dedicated dehumidification room helps reduce the risk of paper deformation, particularly for card products.

  • Dedicated room for controlled paper storage
  • Temperature and humidity monitoring
  • Relevant to card and paper product stability
  • Final conditions reviewed against the project requirement

Color management

Proofing and printing control

GMI color management supports controlled color review. The prepress and printing departments also document digital proofing and multi-color offset printing equipment.

Define quality requirements before quotation

Include any required test method, acceptance standard, color reference, inspection level or packaging test in the inquiry. Do not assume a test automatically applies to every product.
